Defensive timing trainer · Baseball
Make moreouts.
Every fungo becomes a race against the runner. Ghost Runner mounts on your bat, starts the clock at contact, and beeps when the runner reaches the bag. Get the out before the beep.
- Contact → countdown → beep
- Mounts on any bat handle
- Speed set in the app
Hit the fungo and watch your shortstop race the ghost runner to first. Beat the beep.
The problem
Too many outs are left on the field.
The game moves fast. Practice usually doesn’t. A coach hits a grounder, the fielder takes a comfortable approach, makes a lazy throw, and nobody knows whether that play would have been an out.
Defense is the difference. The industry fell in love with hitting bombs and flashy plays. Fundamentals are being forgotten, and sometimes they are not taught at all.
Ghost Runner puts the clock back into every rep. Players get a real timing standard, and coaches get a repeatable one.
Why it’s different
The clock lives
on the bat.
Timing a defensive rep used to take a stopwatch, a second coach and a lot of guessing. Ghost Runner starts itself the moment the ball leaves the bat, so every fungo you hit is timed and nobody has to lift a finger.
Practice without it
- Someone has to run a stopwatch, or nobody times the play at all.
- “Was that an out?” Everyone guesses.
- Reps slowly drift to practice pace.
- A lazy throw looks the same as a good one.
- Players find out how much time they had during the game.
Practice with Ghost Runner
- The clock starts itself at contact, every single rep.
- The beep settles it. Out or safe, no arguments.
- Game-speed urgency from the first fungo to the last.
- Poor footwork and weak throws get exposed right away.
- Players build an internal clock before game day.
How it works
Mount it.
Set it.
Race it.
No complicated setup. Ghost Runner clips to the handle of your fungo, pairs with the app, and turns every ball you hit into a timed play.
Mount it
Attach Ghost Runner to the knob of any bat. It’s on and ready in seconds.
Pick a preset
Choose Routine, Pressure or Hair on Fire in the app, matched to your players’ age and skill.
Hit + train
Contact starts the ghost runner. Your fielders have to finish the play before the beep.
You set the speed of play. Your defense adapts, competes and learns the rhythm it takes to make more outs.
Three levels of urgency
Dial up the pressure.
Start at a routine setting, then raise the standard. The same preset produces the same rep tempo every time, so progress is measurable.
Routine
Learn the rhythm. Clean footwork, a good funnel, an accurate throw, with a clock that rewards doing it right.
- Best for
- Younger players, early-season install
- Focus
- Mechanics under a clock
Pressure
Game tempo. No time for poor footwork or a weak throw. The first step and the angle have to be right.
- Best for
- Travel, high school, in-season work
- Focus
- First step, angles, transfer
Hair on fire
A burner at the plate. Every hundredth counts, and only a clean, aggressive play beats the beep.
- Best for
- Varsity, college, elite defenders
- Focus
- Urgency, quick release

Questions from the dugout.
How does Ghost Runner know when to start the clock?
Contact triggers it. The moment the bat hits the ball, the ghost runner leaves the box and the countdown starts. When the runner reaches the base, you hear the beep.
What bats does it work with?
Ghost Runner attaches to any bat handle. Most coaches mount it on the fungo they already use for infield and outfield work.
Can I adjust the speed for different ages?
Yes. Pick Routine, Pressure or Hair on Fire in the app to match your players’ age and skill level, then raise the standard as they improve.
Is it only for infielders?
No. Use it for throws across to first, double plays, throws to second on base hits and outfield-to-cutoff-to-home relays. Any play with a runner can be timed.
Why does a timer make such a difference?
Without a clock, practice reps are usually slower than game reps and nobody knows if the play was an out. The beep gives every rep a clear result and gives players a consistent timing standard.
Timing is
everything.
Build defenders who move better, think faster and finish plays.
